ADVENTURES ALLIANCE

Picture
We have always thought of serving the Lord and living as citizens of heaven as a great and excellent adventure.  Even when doing the most mundane tasks, there is an air of the expectancy in our hearts, watching as God consistently manifests His power into the circumstances of our lives.  It’s how we live; it’s how He moves; it’s what we know.

After many years of ministry, the Lord is finally releasing us to go to the nations.   What are we going to be doing there?  Whatever the Lord asks us to do.  But, we know for sure that some of the work will center around prayer – not just a prayer journey or a prayer assignment – but rather teaching (by precept and example) corporate prayer.

Since we left pastoring, the Lord transplanted us back into Bryan’s hometown of Terre Haute, Indiana.  (Yes, our ministry offices are still based in Missouri, but physically, we have been living in Terre Haute for more than a year.)  What does Terre Haute, Indiana have to do with going to the nations?  That was our question exactly.

Within days of our return to the city, the Lord graciously dropped us into a fellowship of local ministers with big, big vision for the community as well as the nations.  Our assignment here has been to develop a weekly “Prayer School” that works with churches in the fellowship – taking a cross-section of pray-ers from each church – teaching them to pray together corporately for the nations.

I must say, “This has been a grand adventure.”  We have been blown away by the transformation that has taken place in the city and the people with whom we are working.  There is nothing more bless-ed than to see the countenance upon the faces of the people after they’ve entered into the realms of glory with us.  We’re all learning together the wonder and awe of corporate prayer.  It really has been an exercise in developing unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4), something long overdue in the Body of Christ.  We lovingly refer to our times with the school as “Adventures in Prayer.”

The things we have seen and heard are worthy of note.  Almost a year ago, just as we were preparing for our first international trip, the Lord said, “Yes, I am sending you to the many nations of the earth. And everywhere you go, you will tell of what you have seen and heard here in this place,” [Terre Haute, Indiana].

As the Prayer School has developed, multiple doors have opened to take us on the road again.  Many requests have been made, seeking our help in developing similar programs for communities near and far.  The schedule is filling up quickly.  One minister from Europe has even gone so far as to request that we conduct “Prayer School” throughout the whole of his nation.  [Details and dates soon to follow]

For most of our married life, we have been “tent-makers” – supporting ministerial efforts with secular employment.  But, the time has come for us to transition into full-time ministry.  This means that we must raise enough support through ministerial partners to sustain us.  Plus, international travel adds a whole new layer of expense that stateside ministries seldom encounter.

This is where the Adventures Alliance comes in.  Wherever we go, whatever we do – for those who partner with us through the Adventures Alliance – they will, in essence, be going with us – thus, becoming partakers of the same rewards.

The more partners we have, the more we can do.  It’s that simple.

Won’t you please consider going with us by making a commitment of monthly support?  Paul said on many occasions to the churches in his area of responsibility, “I cease not to make mention of you my prayers…” Our commitment to you, as a member of the Adventures Alliance would be to cover you daily in prayer and, whenever possible, to make ourselves available in your hour of need; also, to be willing to hold ourselves accountable to our partners.
